It's also great as an unwind/de-stress massage. Raynor massage uses deep tissue massage techniques as well as other more specialised techniques.

I have a professional massage table, fresh clean towels and all accessories that I need to give you an exceptional treatment session.

Thank you.

What do I do?

The goal of Raynor Massage is to relieve a person of residual tension, or muscle tightness in an area of the body when the body is at rest, and return the body to a relaxed state. In general, the older we get, the more tension builds up in our bodies. Often we just live with it without noticing it.

Massage techniques are used to loosen tight muscles and joints:

  • So your body feels loose.

  • Your joints remain supple (helping to avoid arthritis).

  • Pain or soreness is reduced from tight or aching muscles, stress, headaches, plantar fasciitis, etc.

In the first treatment session a diagnosis is performed to find out where you are holding tension. A variety of massage techniques are then used to loosen up the tight, sore or painful areas.

If the tension is deep-rooted, more than one treatment session will be required to fully loosen you up.

Tension is anchored in the fingers and toes, so in subsequent sessions specialised techniques are used to reduce/remove the tension there. A fusion of deep tissue massage and acupressure is involved. After reducing/removing tension in the fingers and toes, the limbs and back/shoulders are massaged to address the tension held there.

If you are keen to rid your body of tension and live well, we can devise a multi-session treatment plan and I can explain what is involved.

Reducing/removing tension using Raynor Massage is a "partnership model". That is, we work together to get successful results. In very simple terms, I bring awareness to your tension and you remove it via your breath.

Doesn't sound credible? You need to experience it to believe it - but it does work!

What is Raynor Massage?

Raynor Naturopathic Massage is the creation of Canadian born and Australian trained Naturopath Brandon Raynor.

Brandon travelled the world studying different styles of massage including Shiatsu, Thai massage, Ayurvedic massage, Reflexology, Hawaiian Lomi Lomi and Yoga breath work.

By combining the best aspects of these modalities with his 30 years of massage experience and his own advanced massage therapy techniques, one of the world’s most advanced forms of massage therapy was developed.

When we suffer from stress (especially if stored up), anxiety, aches and pains and so on there is tension in the body.

There are many causes of tension, including repetitive activities, physical activities (e.g. over-exercising), sitting still for long periods and bad posture. Tension can also be caused by emotional and stressful experiences.

Ideally, when lying on a massage table when muscles are not being used the whole body should feel relaxed. But if you are feeling aches and pains, or muscles feel sore when pressed, your body contains ‘residual tension’.

Tension often builds up in the body over time. Eventually it becomes too much and an injury occurs (e.g. a strained muscle).

The goal of Raynor Massage is to find the source of residual tension in the body, eliminate it, and return the body to its natural state of relaxation (“Relax”: “Re” means to bring back to, “lax” means loose).

Tension generally exists along bands in the body. These bands are composed of muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. Tension is present when the bands are tight.

Underlying these bands are subtle energy systems similar to meridians in Chinese medicine, sen lines in Thai massage, or nadis in Ayurvedic massage.

A study of these ancient modalities led to the formation of Raynor Band Theory, the bands being called ‘Raynor Bands’. What distinguishes Raynor Bands from meridians, sen lines and nadis is that they can be physically traced within the body.

Raynor bands originate in the hands and feet and interconnect different parts of the body. In Raynor Massage deep tissue techniques are used to loosen the bands.

In particular, there is emphasis on the hands, feet and head where tension is often anchored. Other important areas are the sacrum and stomach.

For example, if you are experiencing lower back pain it is likely that there is tension originating in the feet and legs. So bands in the feet and legs need to be massaged in the first instance to release the tension there.

After tight bands have been released a person often feels much better (e.g. greater mobility, improved energy levels, reduced pain).

Raynor Massage treatments formulate a holistic system of bodywork. So, the mind and emotions are considered as well as the whole physical body.

This approach triggers the body’s own healing processes, such as increasing blood circulation and lymph flow, improving the release of endorphins and accelerating recovery from activity or exercise.

Raynor Massage is not performed as a routine set of strokes. We all have different bodies and lifestyles and hence store varying levels of tension in different places.

The massage involves looking for the tension and then addressing it accordingly. It will be different for every person.

What are The Benefits?

There are many benefits to having a Raynor Massage regardless of age, gender and fitness level.

Finding tension and removing it is an important health benefit. Physical pain will usually reduce and, in many cases, disappear altogether.

Raynor Massage can be beneficial in helping with a number of ailments and disorders:

  • Reduced muscle/joint aches and pains

  • Reduced lower back pain

  • Improved range of movement (e.g. for frozen shoulder)

  • Relief from stiff fingers and toes

  • Relief from plantar fasciitis

  • Relief from sciatica

  • Faster recovery from injuries and strains

  • Relief from headaches and migraines

  • Reduced levels of stress and anxiety

  • Increased energy levels

  • Improved sleep

  • Improved posture

  • Improved circulation

  • Improved immune system

How Many Sessions?

The number of Raynor Massage treatment sessions needed depends on how much tension you are holding in your body and how long it has been there.

Typically, the longer the tension has existed the more sessions will be required to reduce/remove it. Initial treatment sessions remove the surface tension and subsequent sessions address the deeper layers of tension.

Most people will notice an improvement after each session.

Once the tension has been removed or significantly reduced it is advisable to have “maintenance” treatments on a regular basis.

This helps to keep you healthy and your energy levels up. The frequency of this treatment depends on whether the tension returns and, if so, how quickly.
